Extra shelf without a single hole in the wall
A self-adhesive shelf is mounted with heavy-duty tape on the back instead of screws and wall plugs. You press it firmly onto a clean, smooth surface, and after a few hours, it is ready for use. No drill, no dust, no holes you have to fill when you move out.
This makes the solution ideal in two places: in a rental property where you are not allowed to drill into tiles or walls, and in the bathroom, where even a small hole through the grout can let water in behind the tile. You get extra space for shampoo, soap, towels, or the toilet roll, and the wall remains as it was.
In this collection, you will find self-adhesive shelves in two styles: matte black and brushed steel. Both are designed for the humid environment of the bathroom but work just as well in the kitchen or hallway where you need a surface to place things.
How much weight can a self-adhesive shelf hold?
The load-bearing capacity depends on three things: the size of the adhesive surface, how smooth and clean the wall is, and how evenly you distribute the weight on the shelf. For everyday use in the bathroom—shampoo bottles, soap, conditioner, and a razor—a well-mounted self-adhesive shelf holds plenty of weight.
The most important thing you control is the installation. The adhesive surface must have full contact with the wall, and the glue must have time to cure before you put weight on the shelf. If you rush to fill it the same day you put it up, that is when accidents most often happen. Give it the resting time specified by the manufacturer, and it will hold much better.
A good principle: distribute heavy items evenly and place them closest to the wall rather than at the outer edge. The further out the weight is, the more it pulls on the adhesive surface. For really heavy bottles, it pays to have two shelves rather than stuffing everything onto one.
Does it hold on tiles, glass, and painted walls?
Self-adhesive shelves are made for smooth, solid surfaces. Tiles, glass, mirrors, lacquered wood, and metal are ideal because the glue achieves full contact without air pockets. That is why they hold so well in the shower stall and on the tiled wall above the sink.
Where you should be more cautious is on porous or uneven surfaces. Rough, painted walls, wallpaper, whitewashed surfaces, and textured paint provide a poorer grip for the glue because the contact surface is smaller and the paint can detach from the substrate. Fresh paint must also be fully cured. If in doubt, choose a smooth surface nearby, for example, a tile, the edge of a mirror, or the side of a cabinet.
Regardless of the surface, preparation is crucial. Wipe the surface with alcohol or degrease it so that no soap residue, grease, or dust remains. A completely clean, dry surface is the difference between a shelf that stays up for years and one that falls down after a week.
Shower shelf for shampoo, soap, and shaving gear
In the shower, bottles quickly accumulate on the floor or balance on the edge of the tub. A shower shelf gives them a permanent spot, so you don’t have to bend down for the shampoo in the middle of your shower.
The shelves are available with a low or high edge. The low edge is easy to wipe clean and provides a clear view, while the high edge holds bottles and soap better so they don't get pushed off the side. If you have a corner to spare in the shower, the shelf is also available as a corner model that utilizes space that would otherwise be empty.
A practical detail for wet rooms: many shower shelves have small holes or an open bottom so the water drains away instead of pooling. This keeps the soap dry between showers and makes cleaning easier.
Towel hook and toilet roll holder with shelf in one
Self-adhesive doesn’t mean you only get a simple shelf. In the collection, several models combine two functions, so you get more out of the same space without extra installation.
The towel hook with four pegs and a shelf provides space for towels at the bottom and a surface on top for what you want within reach. And the toilet roll holder with a shelf solves the classic toilet problem: where do you put your phone, an extra roll, or a scented candle when there isn't a surface nearby? Here you get a holder and a shelf combined in one unit, mounted without a single hole.
These are small solutions, but they are often exactly what creates order in a small toilet or bathroom where every centimeter counts.
Matte black or brushed steel: choose according to your bathroom
The collection is consistently available in two colors, so you can choose the style that matches the rest of the room and have it repeat across the shelf, hook, and toilet roll holder.
Matte black provides a calm, Nordic look and works well with black fixtures and light tiles. Brushed steel is bright and neutral and matches polished or steel-colored fixtures without drawing attention. If you want brass in the bathroom, that tone is available in the wider self-adhesive series.
The point is that when the hook, shelf, and holder have the same finish, the room gets a uniform look rather than a collection of random fittings. It is both aesthetics for the soul and an easier everyday life when things have their permanent place.
How to mount the shelf so it stays up
The actual installation takes a few minutes, but the sequence means everything for durability. Do it calmly so you only have to do it once.
Start by choosing a smooth, solid surface, for example, a tile or a mirror, and wipe it thoroughly with alcohol so it is completely clean and dry. Then remove the protective film from the tape, place the shelf exactly where it should go, and press it hard with even pressure for a few seconds. The last and most important step is to wait: let the glue cure for the number of hours the manufacturer recommends before you put weight on the shelf. If you hang bottles on it immediately, the glue won't have time to get a proper grip.
If you want to read more about how to get a hold on different surfaces, we have gathered our experience in the guide for self-adhesive shelves and reviewed the shower stall separately in the guide for shower shelves without drilling.
