Why labels create calm in cabinets and drawers
Have you also stood with a jar of flour and a jar of icing sugar that look indistinguishable, and had to dip a finger in to check which is which? You are not alone. The moment your dry goods and spices are transferred to matching jars and containers, the built-in recognition that the packaging provided you disappears. Labels are what give that back.
A label tells you in a split second what is in the jar, so you don't have to open, smell, or guess. It makes it easy to find the right thing, and just as easy to put it back in its designated place afterward. And that is precisely where the true benefit lies: with designated spots and clear labels, you make it very difficult for clutter to thrive. At the same time, uniform labels create a calm, cohesive look across jars and containers, so a drawer or shelf suddenly looks organized instead of cluttered. Aesthetics for the soul and an overview in your everyday life, all at once.
Labels for dry goods or spices
Most people start in one place in the kitchen, and that is why labels adapted to the two places where clutter most often gathers are available here.
If you need to get a handle on flour, sugar, pasta, rice, oatmeal, and other dry goods, our Dry Goods labels fit larger jars and containers in the cabinet. If you instead want a uniform look on the spice rack or in the spice drawer, Spice labels are made for smaller jars, where space is tighter and the text therefore needs to be shorter and clearer.
You don't have to do it all at once. Start with the spices or the dry goods cabinet, and feel the difference before moving on to the rest. We promise it is well worth it once the system is established.
Expiry date labels make leftovers manageable
When you transfer food items to your own jars and containers, you lose the date that was on the original bag or package. The same thing happens when you freeze leftovers or do meal prep. Here, an expiry date label is the simple solution, so you can always see how old the contents are and avoid throwing away food due to uncertainty.
There are two variants to choose from, depending on how much you need to label. If you want to try it out or only have a few jars and containers that need dating, individual Expiry date labels are a good place to start. If you have many jars, a well-stocked freezer, or a regular meal prep routine, you will get more out of the larger set of Expiry date labels, which contains enough for the whole kitchen. Both are ideal for use with your freezer storage containers, where the date is otherwise hard to remember.
Which surfaces can you apply labels to?
Labels work best on smooth, clean, and dry surfaces, and fortunately, that covers most of a kitchen. You can apply them to glass and mason jars, to canisters, and to plastic containers, and they stick just as well to the side of a storage box.
A small tip that makes all the difference: wipe the surface so it is completely clean and dry before you apply the label. Grease, flour, or moisture is what most often causes a label to come off prematurely. If you press it down firmly and smooth it out from the center outward, it will stay exactly as it should.
Once you have started labeling, you will typically discover more places where it makes sense. Our storage jars and boxes are obvious candidates to label, and the same labels also work well in the bathroom, where cotton balls, cotton swabs, and soap deserve their own designated spots.
A complete system rather than loose labels
A single label solves a single problem. What truly provides an overview and peace of mind in everyday life is when labels become part of a system: matching jars, matching containers, and consistent labeling that carries through the cabinet.
Natural materials like wood, bamboo, and glass provide a calm atmosphere in the kitchen on their own, and when you label them consistently, it ties everything together. If you are building your system from scratch, it might be easier to choose a complete package solution so that the jars and labels match from the start. If you just want to supplement your collection, you will find the rest under labels.
If you are in doubt about where to start or which labels fit your jars, we are always ready to help.
