Stickers that bring your jars together for a unified look

Do you have a collection of storage jars where you know exactly what’s in each one, but guests and the rest of the family are left guessing? You’re not alone. Stickers for storage jars solve exactly that: they make the contents legible at a glance and tie your jars together for a calm, uniform look, whether they are sitting on a shelf, in a drawer, or in the cupboard.

Here you will find dry goods labels with pre-printed text for flour, sugar, grains, pasta, and the rest of your pantry staples, spice labels for your spice jars, and expiry date labels for those who want to keep track of when contents need to be used. What they all have in common is that they create the overview you need and a neat look that keeps cupboards and shelves tidy.

How to apply them straight and without air bubbles

The biggest frustration with stickers is crooked labels and bubbles under the foil. You can avoid both with a little preparation.

Start by making the jar completely clean and dry. If the jar is new, wipe it down with a bit of alcohol or dish soap and water, and let it dry thoroughly so there is no grease or dust left behind. It is grease that causes a label to come off after a few days.

Use the rim or lid of the jar as a guide so the labels are placed at the same height all the way around. Place one edge of the label down first, and then gently smooth over the rest with your finger or a bank card, from the middle out towards the edges. This way, you push the air out instead of trapping it inside. If you do get it crooked, a label can usually be carefully lifted and reapplied if you do it immediately.

Can they withstand water, wiping, and handling?

Stickers on storage jars are touched every day, and the jars are wiped down. Therefore, it is worth considering the durability before you put them on.

If you want to be able to wipe the jar with a damp cloth without the text fading or the edge starting to curl, you should choose labels made of a material that can withstand moisture. A regular paper label will absorb water and quickly become soggy, while a foil or vinyl-based label will withstand daily wiping. A good tip is still to wipe gently rather than scrub, and to avoid submerging the jar in water with the sticker on, unless the manufacturer states that it is dishwasher safe. If you are in doubt about a specific material, check the product's own description rather than guessing.

Spice jars, dry goods, or expiry dates

Which stickers you should choose depends on what the jars are for. The three needs rarely overlap, so it is easy to make the right choice.

For flour, sugar, grains, and pasta in the kitchen, our dry goods labels fit perfectly, featuring classic text so you don't have to write by hand. If the spice jars on the shelf or in the drawer need to have the same calm look, our spice labels are designed specifically for smaller jars. And if you want to see at a glance when the contents need to be used, expiry date labels provide space for you to note the date yourself. If you only want to label one jar at a time, the date labels are also available as individual expiry date labels.

Most people end up with a combination: dry goods and spice labels on the permanent jars, and date labels on top for items that need to be eaten within a certain period.

Stickers that fit multiple jar sizes

If you have jars in multiple sizes, from the large flour jar to the small spice jar, it is important that the labels match so they don't look random. A label that is too big on a small jar looks cramped, and a small label on a large jar disappears.

The spice labels are kept in a smaller format that fits narrow jars, while the dry goods labels have a bit more space for larger containers. If you apply the same design line across your entire collection, you get that uniform and aesthetic look again, even if the jars are not the same size. If you need the jars themselves, you can find our entire selection under storage jars and the popular models with wooden lids under square storage jars with wooden lids.

How to get started labeling your jars

You don't need to label all your jars at once. Just like with the rest of your home, it is easier to start with one cupboard or one shelf at a time.

Start with the jars you use the most, typically the dry goods in the kitchen or the spices by the stove. Empty them, wipe the jar clean, and apply the labels while the jar is empty and easy to handle. Fill them afterwards. This way, you work calmly and avoid struggling with a full, heavy jar.
